Rich & Spiced Chocolate Brownies You’ll Want Every Day

by Judy Goudy

I remember the first time I baked these brownies—my kitchen smelled like a cozy winter evening, all warm chocolate and spices swirling together.

They’re rich, fudgy, and have that unexpected kick from cinnamon and nutmeg.

Plus, they’re gluten-free, so everyone can grab a piece without worry!

If you’ve been craving something indulgent but still kinda wholesome, this recipe’s calling your name.

Tips & Variations

  • Nut-free option: Use oat flour instead of almond flour.
  • Spice it up more: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a surprising heat.
  • Dairy-free tip: Stick with coconut oil and dairy-free chocolate chips for a completely dairy-free dessert.
  • Sweetener swap: Maple syrup works well instead of coconut sugar, but reduce the oil slightly.
  • Serving suggestion: Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of salted caramel for extra indulgence.

Description

Rich, fudgy gluten-free chocolate brownies spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of ginger. Perfect for a cozy treat that feels special yet simple.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • ½ cup gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¾ cup melted coconut oil (or unsalted butter)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips (optional, but highly recommended!)

Instructions

  1. Prep the oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the almond flour, gluten-free flour, coconut sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk the melted coconut oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Make the batter: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined. Stir in the dark chocolate chips if using.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool: Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Slice & enjoy: Once cooled, slice into squares and serve!
